Absolutely Alabama: Weogufka Songwriters Festival | News
COOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC)- COOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC)- As shows like "American Idol," and many
others have proved, you never know where or when the next big talent is
going to be discovered. So off to Weogufka, Alabama, we went for their
songwriters festival. As Fred Hunter
found out, it's where budding stars or just six-string dreamers come,
hoping their unique talent will be the next big thing. It's also
Fred caught up with Troy Jones, the man who
penned the songs "People are Crazy," "Shift Work" and "Pretty Good at
Drinking Beer." Jones also wrote two songs featured in the film "Country
Strong," starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw.
"Since Troy, who lives in Sylacauga, keeps pretty busy writing songs for
all those Kenny Chesneys and Billy Curringtons and movie music for the
occasional Tim McGraw, he barely has time for hanging out with Garth and
Tricia. But he manages. So I volunteered to help him write a song or
two. Glad to help, Troy."
